East Melbourne Community Choir 2025
Overview
The East Melbourne Community Choir was established in February 2023 with the support of a grant from the City of Melbourne.
The choir has formed into a friendly, relaxed group of community members who enjoy singing together. The choir sings an eclectic repertoire of music including musicals, pop, folk and classical in two- and three-part harmony as well as rounds and some unison. It is open to experienced singers and beginners; those who read music and those who don’t. Anyone is welcome! Please join us and help bring our community together through the joy of singing.
Musical Director:
Richard Lawton joined the choir in Term 1 2025 and is a highly experienced educator, corporate trainer, author, theatre director and community choir leader – across 3 continents. Richard leads the SoulSong Choir; runs a lunchtime choir for barristers in the city and engages in corporate work as a Master Voice and Presentation Coach.
Richard is a great believer in choirs creating a safe and welcoming community – and this too is in line with the values of the community. Richard brings a fresh energy to the choir and a new, dynamic approach.
